11/7/14
Dear RiverRun Families,
This week the children learned when to use the article “a” vs. “an” and are now better
able to identify vowels and consonants because of the lesson. Many children had lessons on division using
the Stamp Game or the Division Board and they all continue to
work on addition and subtraction.
We learned this week about the amazing artist Michelangelo. We critiqued his sculpture of St. Proculus and learned the word resolute, an adjective used to describe
St. Proculus' face in a book the class read.
We tried to imagine what it would be like to paint the ceiling of the
Sistine Chapel. Four long years with
your neck stretched in that unnatural pose!
Rachel played a game with the children where they froze themselves as if
sculptures in a museum and she would change their pose. The challenge was the statues could not laugh
and had to be perfectly still.
We revisited France; Normandy specifically, because Simon’s
grandparents recently visited and brought back lots of fun souvenirs. Tanya read and translated a French menu and we
enjoyed some chocolates. Thank you to
Simon's grandparents for sharing their experience in such a fun and tasty way!
Dates to Remember:
November 11th- no school
November 26-28 – Thanksgiving Break
December 2nd- field trip to the Clark museum
