Dear
RiverRun Families,
This
week the children explored science with everyday materials. We observed how melted crayons solidify when exposed to room
temperature water. We also learned how
some particles attract and other
particles do not by seeing what happens when sugar and water are stirred vs.
when talcum powder and water are stirred together. The concept of density was explored using water, oil, food coloring, and
salt. These demonstrations are follow-up
works to the Cosmic Lesson.
We’ve
had lessons on the blends (dr,sh, ch, br, st, & cl) and synonyms. All the children have been working hard on
their grammar skills. The First Years
are working on identifying nouns and
articles within a sentence. Others
have been learning about the possessive
adjective “my”.
We
finished reading Apricots At Midnight by Adele Garas. I find it sad when a loved book is
finished. The magical book really kept
the children’s attention; they looked forward to hearing the next chapter and
getting a chance to guess what would happen next. I enjoy this book so much that I read it
every three years.
For
those participating in Halloween, enjoy and stay warm!
Amy,
Rachel, & Tonya
