What we've been up to... In pictures!

Hello parents!

As many of you know we have just recently begun tennis lessons.  Coach Neil, Patricia's Dad, has volunteered an 8-week block to give both the Lower and Upper Elementary tennis lessons! Here are a few pictures from our first lesson.

As an extension of the History of Writing, students have the opportunity to make their own ink.  We use a mortar and pestle (on loan from the Rieffel family) to first crush the dried leaves or petals into a powder-like consistency.  Then we add mineral spirits and linseed oil to moisten the leaf powder.  Each student has a chance to make ink and draw a picture by using either a paint brush or a feather pen.  Below is Courtney crushing petals using the mortar and pestle.

Each year Elders from the Lower Elementary have an opportunity to paint on canvas. Below is Sean working on his masterpiece.
