2/13/15
Dear RiverRun Families,
To follow up on our visit
to Union Collage, we’ve been working with three different types of volcanic
rocks; obsidian, pumice and basalt this week.
We’re getting a close look at these rocks to see how they feel and also see
if they sink or float; watching air bubbles as the rocks rise to the
surface.
We’re also writing up
descriptions of our favorite dinosaurs. After
we return from break, we’ll use these descriptions to mold dinosaurs out of
clay. The classroom’s dinosaur books are
good resource for our research.
Joel Tirado, introduced to
us by Corinna (Arielle and Dylan’s mom), helped us set up our very own composting
bin. He explained how the process works
and provided us with a pound of worms.
We are weighing our fruit and vegetable scrapes daily for the bin. We’ll have to exercise a lot of patience
because it will take a long time for our worms to process these scrape.
Spanish with Jessica is so
much fun! We have learned how to ask
each other where we live and several ways to say good-by this week.
Water colors of ancient
sea lilies were put into your child’s folder today, perfect for the Silver
Graphics fundraiser.
Hasta Luego,
Amy and Rachel
