Upper Elementary Newsletter - June 20, 2014

Dear RiverRun families,

This is Emma, and we have had a very eventful week. We went to the Wild Center up in the Adirondacks.   We saw two otters that the Wild Center saved.  They are both girls, and their names are Squirt and Squeaker.  They are very playful.  We also got to watch a movie on butterfly migration and how the Adirondacks were shaped from the ice age. The Wild Center also showed us their porcupine named Stickley.  She was very nice and loved to eat.

Two weeks earlier we made our spirit animals out of clay.  This week the potter came back so we could paint our spirit animals.  Suzanna brought back all the spirit animals, though some of the animals did not make it.  But the kids with broken animals still got to paint them.  Suzanna hopes the glaze will hold them together.

We also did Lessons on the Lake where we learned about Lake George, how it was shaped, how deep it is, how clear the water is, and about the nano plankton that inhabit Lake George. Though it was rainy, it was really nice being on Lake George.

From,
Emma and the Upper El Class
