Lower Elementary Newsletter - June 20, 2014

6/20/14

Dear RiverRun Families,

We had a few very busy weeks preparing for the Authors’ Tea and Play Feathers Like a Rainbow:  An Amazon Rainforest Tale , by Flora.  We really enjoyed designing the set from the materials available to us at school and borrowed items.  The only money spent was on the colored feathers and the blue streamers to make the Amazon River.  The Authors’ Tea is a long event, but it really allows your children to gain experience in public speaking, showcasing a completed work they put a lot of effort into, and our focus is only on him/her.  Parents of our Third Years were able to experience the feeling of awe as the stories change dramatically with maturity. I hope you all enjoyed the presentations.

Our last community wide event for this school year is Portfolio Day and Moving up ceremony.  On Wednesday please arrive at 12:45 and assemble in the social hall.  By 1:00 we would like to begin.  Dianna has been working with the children, they will be singing for you.  We will have a ceremony acknowledging the children who will be Moving Up to the Upper Elementary and then you are welcome back to the classrooms to see some of the work assembled over the school year.   This will be a very special gathering for all.

Check out the blog to see pictures of all the recent events and outings as well as past Friday Letters.  www.riverruncommunitymontessori.blogspot.com

Have a Wonderful Weekend,

Amy and Rachel
