Lower Elementary Newsletter - June 6, 2014

6/6/14

Dear RiverRun Families,

We had a full and exciting week.  Our trip to Mabee Farms was great.  The program was well planned and executed by the staff.  The children were engaged the whole time.  In the latter half of the day Dee Strnisa joined us.  Dee is a NYS Wildlife Rehabilitator.  She brought with her rescued animals and talked about their habitats.  She took us to a small pond and identified the life in the pond.  She had a wealth of knowledge.  We could easily spend a whole day with her.

On Thursday Suzanna Van Schoonhowen Hunter worked with the children on making sculptures out of natural clay.  She was very interesting and worked really well with the children. They are looking forward to meeting with her again to paint their sculptures.  In the afternoon Marc met us and we all walked to the Union College track.  Marc has been doing a track unit for P.E. so he wanted to give the kids the opportunity to run on a real track.  Marc inspired them to concentrate on doing their best; they ran hard and really focused.

The weather has been spectacular; let’s hope the weekend weather is as well.

Best Wishes,

Amy and Rachel
