Dear Families:
Wow! This week we
have attempted some very challenging math problems. Just today, some of the fifth years did a
problem that had more than five steps to solve it and included the four
operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The fourth years are finding the prime
numbers up to fifty and identifying common factors. This task really helps us to review our basic
multiplication facts.
We have listed the suspects for The Great Chocolate Caper and
completed all of the practice logic puzzles.
Today we identified several of the suspects’ fingerprints, and we all
took our own prints to look for patterns in our impressions. We are closing in on the culprit.
We are fortunate to have Rachel Cira join our RiverRun
community. She has many talents which we
plan to have her share with us. This
afternoon she helped us hammer holes into our leather bracelets and
chokers. Next week she’ll help us start
to add our beautiful Native American toothpick (porcupine quill) designs to the
leather.
We have continued to work diligently on animal reports,
zoology notes, vocabulary, spelling and creative writing tasks. We’re also becoming mystery readers.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Debbie & Sleuths
