Friday Letter - 09.14.2012
9/14/12
Dear RiverRun Families,
The children have jumped right into work; one would not even know summer vacation just ended. Work Plans are being followed and lessons are given throughout the work period. We are focusing on the continent of Asia this half of the year so we continue to look at India. Gay-Neck, A Story of a Pigeon is very interesting and loaded with challenging vocabulary. Every day we make a list of words and define them. The children are encouraged to try and use some of them during Writer’s Workshop. The Buddhist Peace Flags are looking great; the children are still working on them. We plan to hang them outside near the woods. Also, I am getting the children ready for trip to Seneca Falls and reading You Wouldn’t Want to be a Suffragist! by Fiona Maconald.
We went outside to play kickball for gym on Tuesday and Michelle lead yoga class for the first time on Thursday. I think the children really enjoyed the class. She did a fantastic job engaging them; it looked like lots of fun. I will try to get a picture up on the blog with Teresa’s help.
Please call your transportation office to let them know you will not need bussing on the 17th and 18th.
