Special Visitor - Abenacki Nation
Last Tuesday, Denise Watso (Noah's mom) came into the RR classroom to talk with the students about the Abenacki Nation and the people who live on their reservation (which is their "odanak" - meaning village or home). The name "Watso" comes from "Wajo" which means mountain in Abenacki.
The students enjoyed learning about the handcrafted items made by Noah, Denise, their family and the Abenacki people. They were able to use the authentic drums to practice the beat of a medicine man song which repeats these lines over and over:
Kway ya hay hay no
Hen no ya hay no
