Today, we enjoyed a wonderful "Mooncake Celebration" feast prepared by the children for their families. They did a beautiful job with the place settings and with preparing different types of sandwiches, fruit bowls, and vegetable trays. The highlight of the feast, though, were the delicious jam mooncakes and chocolate mooncakes!
This was an opportunity for the children to build community, practice practical life skills, talk about the autumn equinox, and learn about a piece of Chinese culture. This interdisciplinary project incorporated social science, practical life, art, and mathematics.
Many thanks to our afternoon directress, Nancy Adis, for leading this endeavor and getting the year off to such an exciting and interactive start!
