Berkshire Museum Field Trip
On Friday, May 27th, RiverRun families took a field trip to the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, Mass. There they continued their year-long studies of the Americas with two educator-led programs - Native Mammals and Native Peoples.
Museum-educator Craig talks about Native Mammals with the younger children
while museum-educator Sarah talks about Native Peoples with the older children.
Everyone enjoyed a community lunch together
and then the groups switched.
Sarah worked with the younger children
while Craig worked with the older ones.
Then the children had free time to explore the museum on their own.
Here are Kya and Sean Gabriel enjoying the horseshoe crabs.

Community Visitor - Jewelry Making
On April 7th, artist Kristen Olivo came to RiverRun to teach us about jewelry making. She discussed the inspiration for artwork and how we can use pictures and all that we see around us to get ideas for our creations.
Then Kristen showed us how to select and organize our beads to make a necklace - using our picture for inspiration.
There were many beads to choose from.
Laying out a design.
Stringing the beads.
Finished!
