We are so excited to have RiverRun be the “Special Group” for the Schenectady GreenMarket’s first day outside. This Sunday, from 10 AM – 2 PM, one of our teachers, Debbie Castle, and RiverRun students will set up a booth to raise donations for the children of Japan who suffered from the recent catastrophes.
Miniature carp kites created by students will be given as thanks for donations made to the children of Japan, where Children's Day is celebrated on May 5th. The festival involves hanging carp kites on bamboo poles; the Japanese deem the carp as a symbol of strength, determination and courage because it swims up streams and waterfalls.
