Dear River Run Families,
We have missed our elders the past few days while they attended the RiverRun Upper Elementary Preview Program. They all seem to be having a very good experience working with Debbie. The Preview has given our middles a good opportunity to practice being the elders in the class.
We have continued to learn about Canada; looking at the provinces and territories, as well as places to visit in Canada. The middles and first years learned to identify different types of polygons and have also spent a lot of time writing in their journals. You can all look forward to reading some of their great work at the end of the school year.
I am hoping for some spring weather soon.
Best Wishes,
Amy

This week the students continued to enjoy working on their insect skit about Integrated Pest Management. We completed costumes and simple scenery and then put on a show for MaryKaye and the older students visiting RiverRun for the Upper Elementary Preview Program. Many students enjoyed this and have asked to do more of this type of activity so we are considering putting on another play later in the spring for the families. We’ll let you know as plans develop.
We wrapped up our short unit on Tae Kwon Do and began a unit on Cooperative Games during PE time. The class was able to share one PE session with the older students visiting this week and they all worked really well together. If you are ever looking for a high-energy activity, freeze tag can really get those heart rates up!
I also began reading the book “Alice in Wonderland” during Read Aloud time and we are still hoping for a few more copies of the book for the class to use. If you happen to have this book at home and your child would like to bring it in, that would be helpful as some students enjoy reading along and the more copies we have, the better. We'll return them after we finish reading the book.
Next Friday, April 8th, will also be our Pizza Friday for the month of April. Please send in $1 per slice for one or two slices of pizza on that day if your child is interested.
Best wishes,
Nancy
