The Foster, Poole, and Watso-Hanson families had a wonderful time yesterday at HVCC's hosting of Shakespeare & Company's production of Hamlet. What a terrific experience it was for the children to have this beautifully-executed exposure to one of Shakespeare's most famous works, and of course, the children always love eating in the student center as well!
We are fortunate to live so close to HVCC, a local community college that invites the public to enjoy their regularly-scheduled free cultural events, and you are encouraged to keep an eye on their events calendar. https://www.hvcc.edu/culture/events_desc.html#6
Note that RiverRun has a school-day outing to HVCC planned for Thursday, April 14 to see Mark Tayac and the Piscataway Indian Nation Singers and Dancers. Permission slips will be sent home at a later date, but mark your calendar now if you know you'd like to join us as a chaperone/driver!
"Famous for their internationally recognized living history program of authentic American Indian dance, drum and song, the Piscataway Indian Nation Singers and Dancers welcome the opportunity to educate and entertain audiences who want to learn more about Native American history, culture and contemporary issues. It is one of the most colorful, artful and educational programs in the country.
From “Tayac Territory” in Maryland, Mark Tayac and his troupe travel throughout Europe, Canada and the United States for workshops, lectures and performances. The group appeared in “Dances with Wolves” with actor Kevin Kostner and frequently contributes to History and Discovery channel television specials. They are regulars at the Smithsonian’s Museum of the American Indian, national pow-wows, major festivals and colleges across the country."
