How can you help?

Many thanks to those parents who have already signed up to help RiverRun this year.  Listed below are the areas in which we still need assistance.  If you are able to volunteer for any of the following tasks, please e-mail Nancy at wadis@nycap.rr.com.  As a community school whose success is dependent on everyone's participation, your time and efforts are greatly appreciated!

Playground – someone to help with care of the playground including raking crabapples, planting fall bulbs, planting spring flowers/vegetables, other general upkeep (this could be done outside of school hours and/or with the students during scheduled school hours)

Laundry – someone to take the laundry home on Fridays and return it clean on Mondays (note it's a small enough load for a student to take back and forth on the bus)

Fish care – someone to house the class fish during long breaks from school

Drivers/chaperones for our many outings and field trips

Community Service Projects – Do you have an idea or an experience with a charitable group and would like to work with the students to organize our first service project?

Special Areas of Interest – We would welcome parents to schedule time to come into the classroom to provide a lesson (or a series of lessons) to the students in an area of interest such as knitting, photography, music, physical education (yoga anyone?), woodworking, science projects, etc.  If you or someone you know would be interested, we’d welcome more community visitors such as this.

Special Cooking Projects – Once a month the students prepare a meal and invite RiverRun families to join them for lunch.  We would be interested in having a parent volunteer to coordinate one of these special cooking days (work with the students to plan the menu, do the cooking/preparations, etc.).  Sign up to help for a spring cooking day and we’ll be in touch to schedule.
