Dear RiverRun Families,
The students have been busy exploring many new geography materials and activities this week. We’ve discussed the distortion of flat maps, the history of maps, and how to find places on maps. We are beginning to focus our studies on North America and the United States. Today the students will be bringing home an art project they did using the shape of different states to make a creative image. Be sure to ask your child which states they used. We also explored the mix of crayon and watercolor in an art session earlier this week.
On Wednesday, vision and hearing screenings were completed by a school nurse and all students did well. Today the students were able to get outside to explore our school’s neighborhood as well as participate in an exercise on following instructions. Hand stitching work was also revisited to provide students more practice in this area. In ASL this week each student gave a short presentation to the group, introducing themselves in sign. Elders also shared their address and phone number in sign. The students are really learning lots of new signs and this was their first chance to demonstrate their knowledge in a group presentation. Please continue to work with your child to memorize their address and phone number as we feel this is important for safety.
Thank you to all families who supported RiverRun by participating in the Small Hands Fundraiser. I hope to see all of you at our Parent Education Night tonight from 6:00-730 p.m. and I hope you all have a nice weekend.
Best wishes, Nancy

Thanks so much, Amy and Nancy, for hosting the Parent Ed Night. Jameson and I had a wonderful time, and it was so much fun to experience a couple of the children's recent lessons!
